The best for effective and successful weight gain
For certain high-intensity strength and/or endurance athletes (rugby, soccer, field hockey, handball, etc.), weight gain may be necessary in a progression phase. In this situation, we consider it necessary to aim for 45 to 55 kcal/kg of body weight/day, in addition to a sufficient protein intake (it is pointless to exceed 2 g protein/kg/d).
When properly designed, a gainer is an excellent way to achieve your calorie and protein targets.
Protéalpes Mass Gainers are unique in that they are the only ones to contain organic cassava maltodextrin as their main source of carbohydrates. Organic cassava maltodextrin (DE10) stands out from other maltodextrins for its ability to provide carbohydrates with a lower GI than more conventional maltodextrins.
- Weight gain
- Recovery and strengthening of muscle fibres stimulated during training
- Adapted carbohydrate and protein absorption
Respect for the environment, animals and people

- Low concentration of animals in Rhône-Alpes pastures (up to 2,500 m)
- Small-scale farms in the French Alps
- Traditional breeds with low yields (Tarines, Abondances), adapted to mountain environments
- Traditional grass and hay diet from the geographical area, GMO-free
- Coherence and sustainable development of the agricultural system with its environment and time.
What's the difference with other gainers on the market?
We deal directly with a union of dairy producers (Union des Producteurs de Beaufort), which means we don't go through intermediaries, wholesalers or milk giants. This unique proximity to local primary producers ensures total traceability.
We carefully manufacture our nutrition products in Albertville, in the heart of the Alps. The fact that we use no subcontractors and keep and control all stages of production in-house means that we can control the quality of our nutrition products, and in particular that we are certified to NF EN 17444 (formerly NF V94-001), a European anti-doping sports standard.
This standard certifies the absence of doping contaminants in our products, bearing in mind that on average, 15% of dietary supplements on the market contain doping substances such as anabolic steroids (1).

Terms of use
- Pour 400 to 500 ml of liquid into a shaker and add 2 measuring spoons of Mass Gainer (1 portion = 2 measuring spoons of 50g).
- Mix with a shaker. Shake from bottom to top 3 to 4 times maximum.
- Finish with light circular movements of the shaker*.
*When building mass, avoid taking Mass Gainer before a meal. The appetite-suppressant effect could reduce the quantity consumed during the classic meal. Instead, take it before a meal, or as a dessert.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference with other protein products?
We standardize all our recovery products on the basis of around 23 g of protein per intake. This is recognized as the optimal standard dose for rapid absorption in sports nutrition. There is therefore no major difference in protein intake between our protein products. The difference lies in the carbohydrate content and the product formula. Whey is a solution for recovery and optimizing the effects of training. In addition to the 23g of protein it contains, the classic range is composed of a minimum of carbohydrates, necessary for optimal metabolic assimilation of proteins at muscle fiber level, and for a slight glycogen depletion. It is therefore suitable for recovery from low- to medium-intensity efforts, or for strength events, without any specific quest for mass gain.
Pro Recovery, on the other hand, supplements this protein intake with a larger quantity of rapidly assimilated carbohydrates (around 50 g). It is formulated to help the body recover after very intense efforts, which have resulted in high glycogen depletion.
The Pro Recovery is therefore best suited to occasional use in an endurance context (post-match, post-run, especially intense post-training sessions...).
Finally, the Mass Gainer is another notch higher in terms of carbohydrates, still for the same protein intake.
It provides the body with nearly 70g of carbohydrates per intake. These nutrients are mainly provided by organic manioc maltodextrin, which enables a different assimilation and glycemic index (GI) from other maltodextrins, smoother and more continuous than with other more conventional carbohydrate sources. Mass Gainer is ideal for people who want to combine muscle recovery and muscle gain in a healthy way.
Can Mass Gainer and whey be taken on the same day?
As a matter of principle, we recommend taking only one dose of protein supplements per day. The aim is not to exceed real protein requirements, and also not to replace traditional dietary intakes with food supplements.
That said, depending on your level of training and as long as the recommended protein intake for your goal and training level is not exceeded, you can take the gainer as a snack, for example in the morning, and the whey or Pro Recovery after a session.
These two intakes should be taken at a distance from each other, with whey or Pro Recovery being preferred for direct post-exertion.
Is the drink disgusting?
It's true that the gainer is richer than the whey, so it will be a little thicker than the whey. However, we still don't use any thickening or texturizing agents, so the mixture is very watery and light when reconstituted in water.
As with all our products, and with health and performance in mind, we have sought to formulate a product that is as light as possible from the outset, with simple reconstitution in water, to facilitate daily absorption and digestion. As with wheys, if you want a more indulgent product, you can use classic or plant-based milk in the shaker before adding the dose of gainer. The tastes are the same as for whey, just as light and non-chemical.
When should you take Mass Gainer?
In mass gain (muscle gain), and in bodybuilding in general, it's important to bear in mind that it's the total calories consumed over the course of the day, as well as the total amount of protein, that will be most important (rather than the precise timing of supplement intake). Although it's often recommended to take protein post-workout, the impact of the timing of intake on muscle development will ultimately be very minimal in this case. In fact, if your lifestyle dictates that the gainer is best taken at breakfast, or as a morning or afternoon snack, there's no reason not to choose that time.
It is especially important NOT to take it just before a meal. Indeed, since it's a large volume, with lots of carbohydrates, proteins and calories, it would have too great an appetite-suppressant effect. This effect would be counter-productive, since it would lead to a reduction in the intake of conventional food, which must of course remain the basis and main intake.
In short, use gainer as a dessert or snack. Avoid taking it before a meal.
