The best for effective and successful weight gain
For certain high-intensity strength and/or endurance athletes (rugby, soccer, field hockey, handball, etc.), weight gain may be necessary in a progression phase. In this situation, we consider it necessary to aim for 45 to 55 kcal/kg of body weight/day, in addition to a sufficient protein intake (it is pointless to exceed 2 g protein/kg/d).
When properly designed, a gainer is an excellent way to achieve your calorie and protein targets.
Protéalpes Mass Gainers are unique in that they are the only ones to contain organic cassava maltodextrin as their main source of carbohydrates. Organic cassava maltodextrin (DE10) stands out from other maltodextrins for its ability to provide carbohydrates with a lower GI than more conventional maltodextrins.
- Weight gain
- Recovery and strengthening of muscle fibres stimulated during training
- Adapted carbohydrate and protein absorption
Respect for the environment, animals and people

- Low concentration of animals in Rhône-Alpes pastures (up to 2,500 m)
- Small-scale farms in the French Alps (exclusively in the Rhône-Alpes region)
- Traditional breeds with lower yields (Tarines, Abondances), adapted to mountain environments
- Traditional grass and hay diet from the geographical area, GMO-free
- Consistency and sustainable development of the agricultural system in harmony with its environment and the times
What's the difference with other gainers on the market?
We deal directly with a union of dairy producers (Union des Producteurs de Beaufort), which means we don't go through intermediaries, wholesalers or milk giants. This unique proximity to local primary producers ensures total traceability.
We carefully manufacture our nutrition products in Albertville, in the heart of the Alps. The fact that we use no subcontractors and keep and control all stages of production in-house means that we can control the quality of our nutrition products, and in particular that we are certified to NF EN 17444 (formerly NF V94-001), a European anti-doping sports standard.
This standard certifies the absence of doping contaminants in our products, bearing in mind that on average, 15% of dietary supplements on the market contain doping substances such as anabolic steroids (1).

High-quality product, made from wholesome ingredients, with, in this case, the use of manioc maltodextrin, which is very interesting. Great taste.

Frequently asked questions
What sets your protein products apart?
Carbs, not protein. Each serving provides about 23 g of protein, regardless of the recovery product: an amount that aligns with sports nutrition guidelines, which recommend a serving size between 20 and 40 g—or about 0.25 g per kilogram of body weight.
Whey, Classic Line: low in carbs, just the minimum needed to complement the protein. For post-workout recovery after low- to moderate-intensity workouts or strength training, without a specific goal of gaining muscle mass.
Pro Recovery: approximately 50 g of high-glycemic-index carbohydrates added. For very intense workouts that have heavily depleted glycogen stores. For occasional use in endurance sports or team sports: after a game, a race, or a very tough workout.
Mass Gainer: even more carbohydrates—nearly 70 g per serving—for the same amount of protein. These come primarily from organic cassava maltodextrin (DE 10), which releases its carbohydrates more gradually than maltodextrin with a higher DE. Its purpose: to increase caloric intake, for example, for ectomorphs aiming to gain mass.
Mass Gainer and Whey on the Same Day: Is It Possible?
Yes, under certain conditions. The basic principle is to take only one serving of protein supplement per day, so as not to exceed your needs and to ensure that the supplements do not replace meals.
A second serving is possible if your total protein intake does not exceed what is appropriate for your goal—that is, a maximum of 2 g per kilogram of body weight per day. Example: a weight gainer as a morning snack, followed by whey or Pro Recovery after your workout. Allow some time between the two, and save the whey or Pro Recovery for right after your workout.
When should you take Mass Gainer?
Whenever it’s convenient for you, except right before a meal. Whether you’re bulking up or building muscle, what matters most is your total daily intake of calories and protein, not the time of day you consume them. Taking it after a workout is often recommended, but the timing has only a very limited impact on muscle growth. Breakfast, a morning snack, or an afternoon snack: choose whatever fits best with your schedule.
The only precaution: don’t have it right before a meal. Because of its volume and high content of carbohydrates, protein, and calories, a weight gainer would curb your appetite too much, causing you to eat less at mealtime—even though your diet should remain your primary source of nutrition. The best approach: have it as a dessert or snack.
Is the weight gainer sickening?
We’ve done everything we can to ensure it isn’t. Richer than whey, it creates a slightly thicker drink, but without any thickeners or texturizing agents: when mixed with water, it remains smooth and light.
Like all our products, its formula has been designed to be as light as possible and to mix easily with water, so you can enjoy it effortlessly every day. Want something a little more indulgent? Replace the water with milk or a plant-based beverage, pouring the liquid in before adding the gainer scoop. The flavors stay true to our whey line: light, with no additives or sweeteners.
